Washington is no more - Mount Vernon (USA)
On the bicentennial anniversary of George Washington's death, the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association intended to organize a number of events including the re-enactment of the days surrounding George Washington's death and his funeral.
There is no better way to describe the experience other than to repeat how Margo Carlock, Executive Director of the Virginia Association of Museums felt during her visit to the show:
"The mood was set the moment we entered the room. The black drapery, candlesticks and lit candles at the end of each row really gave the impression that you were about to participate in a very sombre occasion. The set, with its peculiar perspective, made you think that you were right outside of Washington's bedroom as the final moments passed. I stumbled out of the theatre with tears in my eyes. My two children, boys aged 9 and 12, were also moved (and that is no easy task in these Nintendo times).
